The Quartermaster's Store is proud to feature Frank Parisi, of Frank Parisi Photography, as Artist of the Month for February. A photographer for over 40 years, he has photographed a wide variety of subjects in locations such as New York, Europe, the Caribbean, the Southwestern United States, and the New Jersey Shore. An avid sailor, Mr. Parisi draws much of his inspiration from scenes on the water. "The sparkle of light on the water in the morning or late afternoon, the dynamic contrast between taught white sails and blue sky, and the inspiring serenity of a brilliant sunset are all subjects captured in my best photographs," Parisi writes. "I also frequently photograph the awesome serenity and drama of clouds and colors at sunset and sunrise." And though his first passion is the sea, he has recently focused his lens on New Jersey's capitol city of Trenton, in particular The Old Barracks Museum.  

 "...textures and contrasts are, to me, endless sources of fascination. I am excited by the ...effects of light and circumstances on that object. Simultaneously, I am fascinated by the clash of opposites, such as smooth against rough, or randomness against pattern. I am pleased by the dissonance created by contrasts, such as calm against movement, dark against light, radiant illumination against silhouette, and by the quiet grace of more delicate contrasts. For me, the best images have a rhythm, a pulse, which is that image's distinguishing style."

This statement rings true in the beautifully vivid image that he has captured of our French and Indian War-era barracks. He is a self proclaimed "collector of moments", and is very aware of the fleeting nature of time. Through his art, we have the opportunity to capture our lovely building as it stands in this moment.
