By the end of this week, my work will be appearing in more places than ever before. About 12-15 of my photographs will be spread across Ocean and Monmouth counties. Today I will drop off three pieces for the 1st Annual Art Show for Point Beach Arts in Point Pleasant, on Friday I will drop off two pieces for the JAS Show at the Belmar Arts Center, and on Saturday I will be entering three pieces for the Annual Photography show at the Ocean County Artists' Guild. This is in addition to the photograph "Mariner," that is currently hanging in the "About Face Value" show at the Oyster Point Hotel in Red Bank, the photograph "Dedo" I have at the TRAC Gallery in Toms River, and the many cards and prints I have at ReFind in Bay Head and at the Ocean County Artists' Guild here in Island Heights. Last, but not least, I have three pieces at one of my best, and most unlikely gallery--the Seaside Auto Service Center, in Seaside Park. (That has been my best venue so far this year--thanks guys!) I am very pleased that my work has been welcomed at so many venues, and that it is being seen and appreciated by so many people. I must be doing something right! In less than a month, the outside show season begins and I will be involved in shows in Ocean, Monmouth, Atlantic, and possibly Mercer counties. My first foray will be to Smithville and the Artwork by Underground on Saturday, April 13th. From then on the shows occur a few times each month until December. In addition to Smithville, I will be at several other new venues, including Allentown, New Jersey, for their Spring Stroll on Saturday, April 27th, and at Spring Lake for their Art Walks in June and September. My inventory is up to date and my equipment is ready. All I need is some good weather and a few friendly people to stop, see and purchase a few of my pieces. Since I retired last summer, I have been asked repeatedly what I have been doing with myself. I have asked myself the same question at times. The answer is I am preparing for all of these art exhibits and outside shows. Each one is different, and unique in their own way with their own rules and requirements, perhaps due to location or subject matter. I hope that you will put at least one on your calendar and join me. PS: I just realized I left out a biggie! Six of my pictures will be at the Black Glass Gallery show at the Middletown Arts Center (MAC) starting on Friday, April 5th. It will be a monster show with over 35 artists showing a large number of excellent photographs taken at the very fun meetups of the group. It will be a blast! You are welcome to join me at the reception on the 5th (with wine and munchies provided) or see the show sometime later in the month. Don't miss this one!
